How we work

From first conversation to keys-back walkthrough

Every project follows a clear arc. You always know what phase you are in, what decisions are next, and what the studio needs from you to keep momentum.

Listen01

We start with your real life

Rooms, routines, and what has to work better

Before palettes or plans, we map how you move through your home — morning light, storage pain points, how guests flow through a party, where shoes pile up. That context becomes the brief everything else hangs on.

Shape02

Design direction takes form

Sketches, references, and honest tradeoffs

You see options in plain language: layout moves, material direction, and budget posture. We narrow together so the path forward feels confident — not like you are guessing from a mood board.

Document03

Drawings the build can follow

Plans, elevations, and finish schedules

Construction-ready documentation keeps intent intact when contractors are on site. Tile layouts, lighting layers, and fixture specs are spelled out so the finished room matches what you signed off on.

Guide04

On-site judgment through install

Coordination when it matters most

During install, small decisions stack up fast. Allison stays close to the work — clarifying details, protecting the design intent, and helping you read progress so surprises are rare and manageable.

Finish05

The last ten percent

Styling, art placement, and walkthrough

Final layers — art, textiles, accessories — are where a room stops feeling new and starts feeling like yours. We land the last pieces together and walk the space so nothing feels accidental.

Timelines flex with scope — a furnishing refresh moves faster than a full gut. What stays constant is sequencing: clarity first, documentation second, site support through the messy middle.

01

Where It Started

Logan, Utah

Allison's design instincts showed up early — constantly painting her room, hunting furniture and antiques, teaching herself to reupholster and sew curtains, and rearranging spaces through high school while always trying to talk her parents into the next improvement. She sketched floor plans in the margins of her notebooks and walked into any room already seeing what it could become. She studied Interior Design at Utah State University in Logan, where she built a rigorous foundation in spatial planning, color theory, and material science while mastering the technical tools — AutoCAD and SketchUp — that would later set her apart on real job sites. But it was her first professional role, as a showroom consultant at Standard Plumbing Supply, that gave her something no classroom could: her first taste of real project coordination between contractors and clients, and a hands-on education in how the right fixtures can quietly define the character of a space.

The Austin Years

2022–2024 · Austin, Texas

Allison moved to Austin and joined Daltile as a Sales Design Consultant — and quickly became the showroom's top performer, managing client accounts that generated over $800,000 in annual revenue. Over nearly two years, she designed and oversaw more than 100 projects spanning luxury residential homes, boutique hotels, and commercial spaces. She partnered with custom builders and spec home builders, creating tile designs that balanced aesthetic impact with long-term durability. But what made her stand out wasn't just sales numbers — it was how far she went beyond the job description. Clients came in looking for tile; they left with complete design palettes, furnishing direction, and a collaborator who genuinely understood their vision. Austin also broadened her eye. Working across such varied project types — from a sleek downtown hotel to a Hill Country ranch — gave her a rare breadth of style understanding and a deep, technical fluency in materials, tile production, installation techniques, and what actually works in the real world.

Coming Home

2025–Present · Orem, Utah

Allison came back to Utah Valley and launched Allison Mae Interiors with a clear mission: offer the kind of full-service, end-to-end design that most firms reserve for their biggest clients — but bring it to every project, regardless of scale. Today she leads large-scale remodels and renovations from initial concept through construction completion. She develops detailed 3D models and space plans in SketchUp, produces AutoCAD drawings for floor plans and elevations, and specifies every hard finish — tile, stone, cabinetry, countertops, flooring, plumbing fixtures. She manages finish schedules, lighting plans, and material selections for high-budget projects, collaborating directly with contractors, fabricators, and trades to ensure that design intent survives every stage of construction. When you work with Allison, you get one point of contact who handles the entire arc — from the first conversation about what your space could become, through the structural decisions and contractor coordination, all the way to the moment you walk into your finished room.
